Cancun Mexico – Helen’s 80th
January 31, 20251/24/2025 F – arrival 9pm, transport to Club Med and dinner in the Hacienda (main dining room). Helen wanted a beach vacation, NO tours.
1/25 Sat – cold, cloudy, windy day. Toured the facilities, checked out the pools and beaches, played Farkle, and Bocce Ball. Unfortunately, pulled my right calf (injured in August) while walking in the Bocce Ball court.

Drinks and Mexican Dinner at Taco Arte while watching the sunset –
1/26 Sun – Helen’s 80th Birthday! temperature a bit warmer – 71, but still windy, making it feel cold. Took the tram to the far beach area by the Aguamarina Family Pool and did some wading and sun-bathing.

Returned to the main pool for more sun-bathing, a crepe, and a BQ rib lunch by the Saluna Bar. We played a game of Skip-Bo near the registration area and then got ready for our dinner. It was a short walk to The Estancia Argentinian Steak House and our ocean front terrace table. I started with a birthday toast.

.

We finished with a Happy Birthday song and Fireworks!

There was dancing each evening and performances in the Theater or by the outside Kiosque. We were surprised that the majority of guests here were French.

1/27 Mon – the temperature went up to 73 today and the wind dropped a bit, so Helen ventured into the pool for some laps. We had hoped to sail, snorkel, and kayak but alas my leg pain prevented me from participating and Helen would not go without me. More sun-bathing, games, and then another Mexican family style dinner at Taco Arte.
.
1/29 Tu – our last and best day. The temperature climbed to 79 with reduced wind making it very comfortable. Morning view from our room.

More wading in the “Gulf of America” and sun-bathing before an outside seafood lunch with live entertainment. Overdid it a bit on calamari, shrimp, mussels, salmon, numerous extras, and mojitos!

It was a great way to finish our Birthday Trip! Our plane left at 5:30pm, quick stop over in Atlanta, and then Dayton with snow on the ground and back home at 1am.
